The Day the Earth Blew Up marks the debut of a fully-animated original feature from Looney Tunes. It has taken nearly a century for this to come to fruition, the film successfully embodies the vibrant and imaginative essence of these beloved characters. Even more encouraging is the fact that first-time director Peter Browngardt has meticulously recreated the aesthetic of the classic shorts by bringing together a team of artists and animators who hand-draw, color, and shade every element. While Porky Pig and Daffy Duck may not appear identical to their most iconic versions. Their new designs do not alter our understanding of their personalities. Porky continues to stutter endearingly, and Daffy remains true to his name.
