Sister Iren is presently residing in an Italian convent four years following the events of The Nun. Nobody in the room is aware of her experiences. She makes Sister Debra, a fellow disobedient nun, her friend. Maurice, also known as Frenchie from the first film, is currently employed as a groundskeeper at a French Catholic boarding school. He makes friends with Sophie, the daughter of Kate, a teacher. Sophie is teased at school by the older girls. One day, the girls trick Sophie into going to the deconsecrated, sealed-off, and strictly off-limits chapel. The girls give Sophie instructions to look into the eyes of a goat painted on the stained glass, telling her that the devil will appear when the goat’s eyes turn red due to sunlight passing through them.
